Modesto Store Associates Salvage One Family’s Holiday

RICHMOND, Va. (July 18, 2012) - CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used vehicles, is pleased to announce that Lee Hulsey and Isaac Lozano have been awarded the CarMax “Above and Beyond” award – the highest honor bestowed in our stores. Hulsey, a sales manager, and Lozano, a sales consultant, at the CarMax store located at 4300 McHenry Avenue, Modesto, Calif. were honored after coming to the aid of a stranded family.

On April, 7, 2012, Isaac Lozano took a call from a family of eight whose car had broken down while they were driving to Los Angeles to spend Easter with relatives.

Lozano suggested that he and Hulsey personally deliver a loaner car to the family, which involved a 440-mile round-trip journey to meet the family in Bakersfield, Calif. Lee and Isaac also arranged to have the disabled vehicle repaired and shipped back to Modesto.

“Had it not been for Lozano’s and Hulsey’s dedication to serving their customers, this family would have missed Easter with their family,” said Brad Stephenson, location general manager of the Modesto CarMax. “We are proud to have them on our team.”

Only a few select associates throughout the entire company nationwide are selected for the “Above and Beyond” award each month. The award consists of a bonus check of $1,000, a pizza party for the winner’s store, and a trophy.  Store and region management nominate the winners for delivering exceptional customer service.
