Facebook Contest Offers Chance to Win Big for
Most ‘Liked’ Cost-Saving Vacation Ideas
RICHMOND, Va. (July 12, 2011) – With consumers facing higher gas prices and greater summer vacation expenses this year, CarMax, Inc., (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, launched a Facebook contest today – asking fans to share their best cost-effective summer vacation tips. One lucky winner with the most ‘liked’ tip will win $5,000.
The Summer of Discovery contest will run from July 11 through Aug. 19. Fans that submit a tip are encouraged to ask their online friends to vote for their tip by liking it on the CarMax contest Facebook page. In addition to the grand prize, the fan with the most “liked” tip at the end of each week will win $250.
“At CarMax we offer the great quality that you expect at a price within your budget,” said Joe Kunkel, senior vice president of marketing and strategy. “As Americans prepare for this summer’s vacation – whether that includes a long road trip or staying close to home – our Summer of Discovery campaign builds a community for consumers to give and get ideas for saving money in the car and on the road.”
Along with consumer-generated vacation and activity ideas, CarMax will offer its own tips for saving money on gas mileage, vehicle maintenance and even selecting their next car. CarMax offers thousands of vehicles to choose from and knowledgeable sales consultants to help car buyers choose a vehicle that best meets a person’s summer trip and long-term needs.
