RICHMOND, Va. (October 20, 2006)-The Greensboro CarMax retailer has won the Torch Award for Business Ethics from the Greensboro Better Business Bureau. CarMax is the nation’s largest retailer of used cars and has a location in Greensboro, North Carolina at 3412 West Wendover Avenue.

"CarMax is honored to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau," said Sandy Aumack, General Manager of the Greensboro store. "The Torch Award represents ethics and integrity, two concepts that are core to CarMax’s culture. Winning the Torch Award reflects CarMax’s unwavering commitment to treating consumers and associates with respect and fairness."

Receiving the Torch Award for 2006 reflects CarMax’s continued dedication to fairness and openness. Torch Award winners have demonstrated their commitment to ethical business practices in all aspects of their relationships with customers, associates, vendors, shareholders, and within the community.

Greensboro CarMax associates have made positive changes to the surrounding community by their volunteer efforts.

  • In September 2006, Greensboro CarMax associates were involved with Driver’s Edge, a national nonprofit program that gives young people real behind-the-wheel experience combined with classroom instruction to help address the growing number of youth-related automobile collisions and fatalities in the U.S. The Greensboro CarMax loaned eight vehicles to be used during the sessions, and CarMax buying experts provided the attendees tips on buying quality used vehicles.
  • In May 2006, Greensboro CarMax associates participated in a volunteer project at the Greensboro Urban Ministries Center. Several associates helped with cleaning the facility and serving food to the homeless community.

CarMax offers consumers a no-hassle, no-haggle car-buying experience and a broad selection of high-quality used vehicles. CarMax guarantees the quality of its cars, does not sell flood- or frame-damaged vehicles, and guarantees a clean title and accurate odometer readings on its cars. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected and reconditioned, and CarMax offers a five-day, money-back guarantee and a limited 30-day warranty.
