RICHMOND, Va., (November 3, 2009) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation's largest retailer of used cars, has been designated as a Howard County Healthy Workplace with a Silver Certificate by the Howard County Health Department in Maryland.  This was the first year the Howard County Health Department honored organizations with a commitment to overall health.

“Striving to create a healthy workplace for our associates remains a top priority,” said Tom Marcey, Mid-Atlantic regional vice president for CarMax. “We continue to improve our practices and policies because achieving a work-life balance in a safe, happy environment is what every associate deserves.”

CarMax offers a variety of programs and benefits for associates’ health and well-being that include: comprehensive health plans, a health and wellness program, financial and retirement planning, an employee assistance program, adoption and educational assistance, and tobacco cessation and Weight Watchers programs.
