RICHMOND, Va. (February 20, 2006)—CarMax, Inc., the nation’s largest retailer of used vehicles, is pleased to announce that Thomas Cash, a Sales Consultant from the company's store in Greenville, South Carolina, was honored with the CarMax "Above and Beyond" award.
Cash provided roadside assistance to a woman stranded on the side of I85, just south of Greenville on December 23, 2005. One of the woman’s tires blew out while she was traveling. She lost control of her vehicle, but made it to the side of the highway.
Cash observed the situation while passing by and quickly rushed over to assist. "He got to work immediately changing out my busted tire," said the motorist. Due to Thomas’ quick efforts, the motorist was able to get back on the road safely.
Only a few select associates throughout the entire company nation wide are selected for the "Above and Beyond" award each month. The award consists of a bonus check of $1,000, a pizza party for the winner’s store, and a trophy. Store and region management nominates the winners for delivering exceptional customer service.
