RICHMOND, Va. (May 8, 2009) — CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation's largest retailer of used cars, has received an Award of Distinction for Business Ethics from the Houston Better Business Bureau Education Foundation. There are four CarMax store locations in the Greater Houston, Texas area.
“We are delighted to have been chosen among the most ethical companies in Houston,” said Donna Wassel, Southwest region vice president of CarMax. “We are a company that upholds the highest integrity in all aspects of our business and have created an environment that our associates and customers can be proud of each day.”
Award of Distinction winners maintain a superior commitment to ethics, overall excellence, and quality in the workplace. As an Award of Distinction winner, CarMax has displayed each of these characteristics, as well as recognizing the importance of being a good corporate neighbor in the communities where our associates live and work.
CarMax continually gives back to its local communities with food, blood and toy drives. Last year, all four Houston CarMax locations held a month-long food drive to support the End Hunger Network of Houston, an organization that prepares meals and donates food to more than 75 other programs. Additionally, The CarMax Foundation awarded Ronald McDonald House of Houston and Texas Children’s Hospital, nearly $30,000 in grants for programs that support youth education and leadership.
CarMax offers consumers a no-hassle, no-haggle car-buying experience and a broad selection of high-quality used vehicles. CarMax guarantees the quality of its cars, does not sell flood- or frame-damaged vehicles, and guarantees a clean title and accurate odometer readings on its cars. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected and reconditioned, and CarMax offers a five-day, money-back guarantee and a limited 30-day warranty.
