RICHMOND, Va. (October 9, 2006)-The Columbia CarMax retailer has won the Torch Award for Business Ethics from the Columbia Better Business Bureau. CarMax is the nation’s largest retailer of used cars and has a location in Columbia, South Carolina at 555 Jamil Road.

"Winning the prestigious Torch Award is a tremendous honor for CarMax," said Rob Brewer, Location General Manager of the Columbia CarMax store. "We believe that this recognition is an acknowledgement of how we’re revolutionizing our industry. We’ve created a car-buying environment where consumers are treated with respect. Our business is focused on integrity, ethics, and honesty."

Receiving the Torch Award for 2006 reflects CarMax’s continued dedication to fairness and openness. Torch Award winners have demonstrated their commitment to ethical business practices in all aspects of their relationships with customers, associates, vendors, shareholders, and within the community.

The Columbia CarMax is involved in supporting its surrounding community. For example, Columbia associates have volunteered and donated to Harvest Hope Food Bank, a regional distribution program that collects, stores and distributes food and related items to more than 300 qualified agencies engaged in feeding needy, elderly, children and ill families throughout central South Carolina.

CarMax offers consumers a no-hassle, no-haggle car-buying experience and a broad selection of high-quality used vehicles. CarMax guarantees the quality of its cars, does not sell flood- or frame-damaged vehicles, and guarantees a clean title and accurate odometer readings on its cars. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected and reconditioned, and CarMax offers a five-day, money-back guarantee and a limited 30-day warranty.
