RICHMOND, Va. (October 22, 2009) – CarMax, Inc., (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, announced today that two high school graduates each received a $2,000 CarMax Service Operations Scholarship. The scholarship was established to benefit students interested in pursuing a career in Automotive Technology or Auto Collision.
The recipients of the scholarships are: Donovan Brads, a student at Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee originally from Lawrenceville, Georgia and Daniel Slouka, currently attending Universal Technical Institute in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
“Many rewarding careers can be found within the automotive industry,” says Ed Hill, vice president of service operations for CarMax. “By awarding deserving students these scholarships, we hope to see more dedicated professionals excel in our industry.”
The scholarship is open to immediate family members of CarMax associates. Other requirements include status as a high school senior or a high school graduate currently enrolled in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Scholarships recipients are not obligated to pursue employment with CarMax upon completion of their degree program.
